[US] SCO Update - Proof of SCO's Putting Code in Linux? SCO May Expand Suit, etc. (Update 1)
Commentary on LWN.net by NZHeretic (English)
"I am not a lawyer, but even I can see that The SCO Group has put itself into an intractable situation, any judge will look at evidence from the above and laugh the SCO group out of court. The SCO Group have admitted that their latest amendment for the deal with Novell does not cover the old Unix patents, and The SCO group have sold and distributed the Linux kernel and other sources under the terms of the GPL."
We can't make any comment, as we have no way of verifying the claims made in the article. Read it make your own evaluation, comments are welcome.
CNET article lists more threats from Chris Sontag of SCO (English)
"In an interview with CNET News.com, Chris Sontag, senior vice president at SCO, said the Lindon, Utah-based company likely will file a new suit or amend its controversial lawsuit against IBM to target other companies SCO believes are illegally appropriating its Unix source code. SCO may also amend its complaint to bring additional causes of action against IBM, he added, and bring subsequent actions against Linux software developers such as Red Hat and SuSE."
On the other hand, SCO seems very sure of themselves. There are no insider trades of record for SCOX which might hint that this could be a run-up to bail out. The stock rallied over USD 2.00 on Friday, and trading volume has been heavy for several weeks.
