[China, US] Possible Stealth Tactics Used by MS against Linux?
Article from China Computer World (Chinese)
Linux End-Run: Article by S. R. Hatfield (English)
From CCW: "Microsoft has in the past used clever tricks, which makes people suspect its motives. In one of the most famous examples, out of perhaps ten, Microsoft acknowledges that it made false assertions in Window 3.1 test versions. This information gave users the incorrect impression that it was not compatible with competitive OS DR-DOS. Recentlly Microsoft also made a response to an Apple advertisement. The Apple ad told about a Windows user who had changed to the Mac. Microsoft started a website about a user who enthusiastically changed from Mac to Windows. After several days, it was discovered that the user worked in a company hired by MS to do public relations. Microsoft later closed the site."
From OpenForBusiness: "The whole operating system [Longhorn] will be database driven, and it looks as if at least the GDI (Graphical Device Interface) layer will be based on Microsoft's .NET Platform. Furthermore, it will incorporate a new technology called "Trusted Computing", where you no longer have control of your own PC...Please, whatever you do, stay away from .NET. It is nothing but more proprietary lock-in from the biggest proprietary software company in the world."

Eventually people do catch on to underhanded practices. We're beginning to hear the backfires from all over the world.
