BBC Popularizes New Sport: "Dogpile on the Penguin"
The Beeb has joined into the "blame-the-geeks" crusade. Stephen Evans, in a "News Article", has identified the culprits in the latest nasty MyDoom virus attack: Linux geeks!

From the article:
Wrath of the geeks"If anyone's anger has no measure, it is the wrath of internet zealots who believe that code should be free to all (open source).
So, it seems likely that the perpetrators of the MyDoom virus and its variants are internet vandals with a specific grudge.
SCO is the big, bad company that violates one of their sacred principles, as they would see it.
There's no proof, of course, but it must be one of the theories at the top of any investigator's list."
While not explicitly stated, and with the "no proof" disclaimer, Evans seems to imagine thousands of Evil Geeks participating in a giant Open Source project to create nasty viruses to Destroy Capitalism. "SCO was targeted...because it has enraged many people devoted to the Linux operating system." I can just see these geeks, with foam-flecked mouths and bloodshot eyes, feverishly typing away past midnight to check the functionality of the virus, doing one last "configure make install"....but wait a minute, this virus doesn't run on Linux. It runs on Windows! So, it wasn't a Linux geek after all, it was a Microsoft geek. In fact, most of the Linux geeks I know won't touch a Windows box with a 10 foot Ethernet cable. Those who do usually wash their hands immediately afterwards. Hmm....I think Microsoft is paying someone inside their organization to write viruses to make people think that Linux users are terrorists. Goodness knows they would know how to break their own software, and no one else is allowed inside to see the code. Yes, that makes a lot more sense to me.
Anyway, Stephen Evans has his opinion, and I have mine. I'm just not calling mine news.
Bruce Perens
Hmm.
There should be more group hugs outside the Asylum. This fellow needs one.
It was ugly. There were toothpicks everywhere...
