Technology should be open to share its full benefits to the whole humanity. Take the case of Internet; though it was founded in the 1960's, it was confined to very specific type of users like the defence networks. At last Linux has come here to stay with a thrust on open source and open standards architecture. I believe that Linux is a big opportunity for the developing countries to build application with state of the art open source technologies, not only to save the cost of development, but to develop solutions which are scalable and which interoperate between various networks.
